I once applied for a remote interpreter position just to find out they’d run the whole interview in ASL… Talk about a curveball! Definitely keep your skills sharp; every setting can surprise you, especially in education. I’d recommend checking local resources like the Wisconsin Interpreters & Translators Association for opportunities.

But i totally get the remote interpreter hustle! I found that brushing up on specialized vocabulary can really help during interviews, especially when the setting is educational. Have you seen any roles that catch your eye, @kellyr65?

In my experience, when applying for interpreter roles in educational settings, it really helps to be familiar with the specific jargon or terminology used in that school district. Schools often have their own unique phrases, especially in special education contexts — i’d suggest checking out local resources or even joining a workshop if you can — those can be game-changers.
