Working as a sign language interpreter, I’ve had my fair share of funny mishaps. Like that time I accidentally translated ‘I love pizza’ as ‘I love lollipops’ during a very serious meeting. It reminded me that humor is a great way to lighten the sometimes intense atmosphere of our work. What are some of your funniest interpreting moments?
I’ve definitely had moments where the signs come out a bit misaligned too! It’s like a game of telephone, right? I once signed ‘let’s grab coffee’ as ‘let’s grab a puppy’ — talk about a surprise meeting! What’s the wildest mix-up you’ve experienced?
That’s a classic! I once signed ‘urgent request’ as ‘urgent raccoon’ in a meeting. 
Any other animals get mixed up in your signs?
I once mixed up ‘let’s celebrate’ with ‘let’s meditate’ during a wedding toast! It definitely lightened the mood but I felt a bit awkward afterward. Have you ever had to recover quickly from a mix-up like that?
